Read the Reckitt-Benckiser case study "Doing business the right way" and answer the following:

1. Outline what it means for a company to be socially responsible.


 

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES 

1.  Harsh or unfair working conditions in the textile, clothing and footwear industry are often reported in the media. Workers are usually paid for each item they sew on a contractual basis. The workers are usually migrant women and often do not have access to minimum wages or working conditions such as workers compensation, overtime or sickness benefits.  They are open to exploitation by unscrupulous employers. 

Access the Fair Wear website and view the short films on "sweatshops".  Use the resources on the website to explain the aims of the Fair Wear Campaign.
