In March this year, Cyclone Pam devastated Vanuatu overnight.  The small South Pacific nation needed help rebuilding homes that were destroyed in the wake of the catastrophe.

New Zealand construction company, Fletcher Construction, has always focused on relationship building as the heart of its success.  In September this year, it held its annual Group Excellence Awards which recognise individuals and teams who embody Fletcher Building’s vision and values.

Construction South Pacific was the deserved winner of the supreme award for their outstanding efforts in the aftermath of Cyclone Pam.   The team’s story is a true example of Fletcher Building businesses literally “Building Better, Together”.

The South Pacific team rallied Fletcher Building to the cause, putting notice out to solicit help from Construction’s sister companies. Asked to look at overloaded inventories, old or unsalable but still effective stock that could be donated to the relief effort, many Fletcher Building companies responded. PlaceMakers, Easysteel, Mico and Tradelink all donated materials.

Fletcher Construction has always nurtured relationships - with clients, suppliers, employees and the community - and established a down-to-earth corporate culture based around simple values where commitment and quality are fundamental.
