7-Eleven has teamed up with MasterCard to offer contactless payments to its customers at over 400 of its stores.

Tracy Hammon, 7-Eleven spokesperson, told Retailbiz that introducing MasterCard PayPass is just another step of improving 7-Eleven’s service to its customers.

“Our aim is to continually introduce new products and services which suit the needs of our customers,” she said.

“MasterCard PayPass provides customers with another payment choice, one that helps them finalise their transaction quickly and securely so they can continue on with their busy day.”

The MasterCard PayPass enables customers to make transactions of less than $100 by ‘tapping’ their MasterCard against a reader without the need to sign or enter a pin.

According to Hammon, 7-Eleven has reassured its customers that it’s a safer, convenient and quicker way to pay.

“Almost 4 million Mastercard Paypass cards are already in the wallets of Australians, so 7-Eleven is confident these customers understand the security associated with these cards when the choose to use them.  If customers do not feel this is a secure method of payment, we have many alternative payment methods they can utilise,” she said.

7-Eleven is the first petrol and convenience retailer to provide the MasterCard PayPass service in Australia. It has been rolling out the MasterCard PayPass offer across its store network since late last year
