The latest ABS Retail Trade figures show that Australian retail turnover rose 0.3% in November 2010, seasonally adjusted, following a revised fall of 0.8% the previous month.

Other retailing (0.8%) and Department stores (0.8%) recorded the largest rises in November 2010 followed by Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.4%), Household goods retailing (0.3%) and Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.3%). Turnover fell in Food retailing (-0.1%).

Trend turnover continued to be relatively flat (0.0%) in November 2010. This follows a similarly flat result in October 2010 (0.0%) and a rise of 0.1% in September 2010. Trend turnover rose 2.3% in November 2010 compared with November 2009.

There are no revisions to the original estimates. Seasonally adjusted estimates have been updated, as happens each month, due to the concurrent seasonal adjustment methodology for deriving seasonal factors.

More detailed industry analysis and further information on the statistical methodology is available in Retail Trade, Australia (cat no. 8501.0).
